Pet Stain/Odor Treatment
We have powerful, yet pet/children friendly, pet stain and odor treatment detergents. They leave your home smelling fresh and clean.
We love our dogs, cats, and various other critters. But let’s face it: PET ACCIDENTS HAPPEN ! And they cause spots, odors, stains, and sometimes permanent damage.
A pet’s urine will change over it’s lifetime due to his/her diet, age, medications, sex, health, and reproductive cycles. These changes lead to a variety of types of damage to your furniture, carpets, and other flooring.
Pet urine is easier to treat when it is fresh. It is important to act quickly and remove as much of the urine as possible with an alkaline cleaner. In this original “acid” stage, the urine begins to oxidize and react with the dyes used in carpet. Although not always the case, this chemistry can cause permanent stain damage. Success is dependent upon the content of the pet urine, the dyes and finish used on the carpet, and the time elapsed after the urine has been deposited.
The fact is that often the urine is not discovered until long after the accident has occurred. Once the urine dries, it turns into an “alkaline” and becomes more difficult to remove. If left unattended, pet urine can damage a carpet in various ways. The most common problem is discoloration of the carpet fibers, commonly referred to as a stain.
Another problem, especially with cats, is the odor. A number of products are available to combat pet odor, but many of these may simply mask the odor; then at times of high humidity, the odor may reappear. This explains why simply cleaning and sanitizing a carpet does not eliminate the odor problem. Enzymes are necessary to actually neutralize the urine odor. Enzymes are the only cleaning agents that actually eat up the bad bacteria from urine, vomit, feces, and other natural odors.
A simple carpet cleaning is not always going to cure your pet urine problems. You need someone experienced with the why’s and how’s of pet stain treatment.
